Occult Powers are based upon ritual, religious dogma, prayers, obscure philosophies, or scientific methods of bending otherworldly energies to one's will. A bond between the practitioner and a specific Domain of occultism is what allows them to cast spells or rituals. Each Domain: Arcane, Fae, Spirit, Demonic, and Eldritch, are vastly different paths one may walk. They are also not exclusive, meaning the truly daring may be bound to multiple Domains at once. When a spell or ritual is cast, from any Domain, it rips and tears at reality, allowing the powers from said Domain to bleed into the world for a brief period of time. It is the manifestation of these powers people refer to as spells and rituals. While the effects of these spells and rituals may be seen by all, only those who’ve started to see the cracks in reality can usually see what is truly causing the effects. Manifestations can take a multitude of forms, all of which are extremely dangerous to both casters and innocents alike.
The Arcane Domain is pure and chaotic in its totality. Followers of this path are known to lose their mind and bodies in the pursuit of Arcane influence. It is one of the most dangerous paths to walk, where power is great but so is the risk. What sets the Arcane apart from other occultist powers is its ability to disrupt spells from any Domain, directly obliterate matter, and protect those who channel it from many forms of harm.
Practitioners who follow the winding path of the Fae Domain were the children who played with fire and didn’t get burned. Many Fae Hexers don’t consider Fae occultism to be magic at all, but rather just luck made manifest. This perspective is not wholly incorrect as Fae Hexes influence, so it seems, the lines of fate itself. Fae occultisms focus on debilitating enemies, changing random occurrences, and the use of illusions to trick and swindle.
Those who look upon the twisted remains of elder Spirit Mystics see only mangled terrors holding onto life by a thin silk strand. However, those walking the path know one thing to be true, no matter how it twists and turns, there is a place for all under the shade of the tree between worlds. In this shade, one can become who they were meant to be, without restraint or tether. Conjuring wards of protection and destruction, the creation of constructs, pulling life force from other planes of existence are all among the tools of the Mystics. The possibilities are many, nearly endless, as are the forms of doom which may befall one walking this path.
Demonic occultism isn’t subtle or clean. It is vengeful and chaotic. It hates the Banes that harness it and hates what they're pointing at even more. Most who walk the Demonic path are consumed by the Demons or Hellfire they wish to command early in their training. Rip and tear! That is the essence of the Demonic Domain, whether it comes in the form of a summoned abomination, strangulating barbed wire, or fire and brimstone. Only one thing is assured when one practices the Demonic arts. All involved shall suffer.
The Eldritch Domain is that which is outside our purview and is tainted beyond all rapport. It is the maddening touch of chaos. An oil slick on otherwise clear water. The deepest rot of the Soul. Still, there are those that seek it out. Seek it and use it to abuse themselves and others. The Eldritch is old as time and space and still Evokers try to tame it. It is the Domain of trade, a trade of one's own Sanity for power, protection, and sight beyond the curtain of reality.
